The story behind Metropolis

Metropolis Long Island Track Club exists to empower athletes to excel both on and off the track. We give them the resources and the knowledge to reach their goals — including athletic scholarships and national-level competition. Athletics offers a rare opportunity for personal growth, and over the last two decades we have developed more than 100 athletes who went on to compete at the Division 1, 2 and 3 levels.

Coach · Sprints

Caprice Church

Amityville Memorial High School, Amityville, New York → New Mexico State University

Coach Church won the New York State 400m title for Amityville as a sophomore, then went on to run sprints at New Mexico State, where she still holds a place in the record book. She coaches the way she competed — technically, and with an expectation that the work gets done before the results are discussed.

Women's Head Coach

Ella Williams

Coach Williams has been on the infield with Metropolis athletes for two decades — at practices, at AAU nationals, and at every stage in between. A great deal of the club's collegiate record runs through her, from the alumni now two decades out to the athletes qualifying this season.
